Behavior Intervention Plans

🎯 Purpose of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

At SMART ABA, our Behavior Intervention Plans are designed to create supportive, respectful pathways for meaningful change. Rooted in a child-centered and assent-based approach, each BIP aims to empower children through understanding, not control.

Our BIPs are created to:

  • đŸŒ± Promote the development of positive, functional skills that are meaningful to the child’s daily life

  • đŸ›Ąïž Reduce behaviors that may be harmful or limiting, while understanding their purpose

  • 🌈 Foster independence, self-advocacy, and emotional regulation in a safe and nurturing way

  • 🏡 Support long-term success across home, school, and community settings

  • 💖 Enhance quality of life for the child, their family, and their support network

Each BIP is thoughtfully individualized and includes:

✅ Clear, compassionate goals rooted in the child’s strengths and needs
✅ Proactive strategies that prevent challenges before they arise
✅ Teaching of functional replacement skills through natural interactions and play
✅ Reinforcement systems aligned with the child’s preferences and values
✅ Collaborative planning with caregivers, educators, and the therapeutic team
✅ Respect for the child’s voice, with a strong emphasis on assent and autonomy

At SMART ABA, we believe that true progress begins with connection, trust, and joy. By addressing behavior with curiosity and empathy, we help children build lasting skills, confidence, and a greater sense of self—so they can thrive in every area of life.
